CD from three Irish masters who certainly leave me wanting more of their music......Six sets of jigs and reels are impressively played, with a lovely pair of hornpipes too: The Golden Eagle and The Independence, slightly out of the Irish mainstream and perhaps all the more enjoyable for that. The wedding of The Hunter's Purse to Smoke On The Water isn't just out of the mainstream - it's up the bank, down the lane and into the ghetto. If Deep Purple did lilting, it might have sounded something like this. Dubliner John Sheahan's air, Among Friends, sees Duach swimming with the current again, a melody which could easily have been written by Carolan's cousin, graceful and stately.......There's a lot to enjoy here, and a couple of sets I'll be stealing. Strop The Razor is a classic Irish jig to whet your musical appetite, but the sparks really start to fly with Bob McQuillan's and an individual take on Bobby McLeod's great composition, Jean's Reel. The gentle Gaelic song, Siobhán Ní Duibhir, shows off Eamonn's vocals and tasteful strings arrangement. Fiddle and flute are flawless throughout. After another pair of grand old jigs, the final Dublin Reel and Come West Along The Road is a fitting climax to a fine album.

Folk in "Marstall" r 1 in Pfäfers.
A newspaper report from their last tour
described a Duach concert experience as "It’s as if you’re sitting in a pub in a small Irish harbour town, and being entranced by the old, traditional music. The traditional Irish Ensemble with Eamonn De Barra on the flute, Bodhran and the piano, Sean Regan on fiddle and mandola and John McLoughlin on guitar, bouzouki and mandolin, brings together three of the finest musicians in Ireland. With great virtuosity and humour, swift rhythms and tradtional melodies they whisk their audience directly off to the Emerald Isle. Before they started their own project Duach, the three musicians have for many years played together with the legendary Irish singer-song-writer Damien Dempsey’s. In addition they have individually played with some of the great Irish artists such as Sharon Shannon, Mary Black, the Dubliners, and Lumiere.

The crowning glory in Mels: At the beginning of this year Duach toured as part of the "The Songs from Ireland" show throughout Switzerland playing before sold-out audiences. The final concert of the tour took place in the (also sold-old) Altes Kino in Mels where they received standing ovations. By popular demand they recorded a CD, which has been recently released. Once again there’ll be the opportunity to immerse yourself in Irish spirit as this coming 1st November, at the invitation of focusana study café, Duach will perform in the Marstall in Pfäfers.
